2s to 2p in a hydrogen atom

Postby Melody Haratian 2J » Wed Nov 11, 2020 8:13 am

Hi guys!
For a hydrogen atom, if you were to excite the electron so that it would go from 2s to 2p, would the energy of the electron change?
Thanks!

The energy of the electron wouldn't change.
Hydrogen is an exception where all of its orbitals in a given shell are degenerate and have the same energy.
