For each of the following ground-state atoms, predict the type of orbital from which an electron will be removed to form the +1 ion. (a) Ge; (b) Mn; (c) Ba, and (d) Au.
Can someone please explain how they are going about this question? I'm getting the correct answers, but would like to know if I'm doing the problems in the correct way.
Also, can someone please explain the electron configuration for Au, specifically?
