Chemical Bonds and Hybridity

Postby 904605949 » Sun Oct 23, 2016 1:41 am

What is the difference between single, double (etc) bonds and sigma and pi bonds?
Also I'm very confused on how does the topic of hybridity (hybrid orbitals) correlate with sigma bonds.

For the sigma and pi bonds, you just need to remember that a single bond has one sigma bond, a double bond has one sigma bond and one pi bond, and a triple bond has one sigma bond and two pi bonds!
