Electron configuration with noble gas abbrevation

For the quiz 2 preparation, there was a question regarding the electron configuration of Cl2- using a noble gas abbreviation.
For this particular ion, do we use the noble gas Neon or Argon?

Im pretty sure you use argon because the extra electron gives it the same electron configuration as argon.

Both abbreviations are correct; though when you do the problem you'll realize that you can't use Argon for all of them.
