Electrostatic Coulomb Potential Energy

I have written that (q1*q2)/r is the equation for this but I'm not sure what exactly that all means and how we are supposed to calculate it or apply this concept. Could someone explain this a bit more?

LAW: This law states that the force between two charged objects is directly proportional with their charge and inverse-squared proportional with the distance between two charged particles.

You have this equation -> F= kq1q2/r2
The larger the charge on the two ions, the greater the force between them!
For Example: Mg2+ and Cl- has a stronger force between them than Na+ and Cl-

Hope this helps! I would look more into the textbook on this for a more in depth description!
