For this homework problem could someone explain what they mean by "shielding"?

Please clearly state what the problem is asking so other users don't have to look it up themselves. That being said, "shielding" is the effect of having additional electron shells around the atom creates more repulsion with the outer most electron(s) and subsequently the attraction between the nucleus and the outer most electron(s) is weaker leading to the atom having a larger atomic radius.
