Hi all!
I woke up extremely sick this morning and missed today's lecture. Could someone please inform me about the topics that were discussed or the pages we went over from the sixth edition. It would be extremely appreciated. Thank you !

Re: Topics discussed in today's lecture
We discussed:
writing electron structures (configurations) of atoms: Pauli Exclusion Principle, Hund's Rule, Aufbau/Building-Up Principle
order of orbitals (based on which state has the lower energy)
exceptions to electron configuration rules
I would recommend reading P. 44 to P.48.

Re: Topics discussed in today's lecture
Today we covered writing electron configurations as well as Pauli Exclusion Principle, Hund's Rule, and the Aufbau Principle. We practice writing the electron configurations for elements Carbon, Silicon, Scandium.
We need to know the s-Block, p-Block, and 1st row of the d-Block and that after 4s state is occupied and electron enter 3d state, the 3d state is lower in energy than 4s.
We also need to know the exceptions that half full d5 and full d10 subshell have lower energy, so for Chromium and Copper the e-configurations would be:
Cr:[Ar]3d54s1 and Cu:[Ar]3d104s1.
