Exercise 2.55 (Valence electron configuration)

Postby Steven Garcia 1H » Wed Oct 24, 2018 10:48 pm

How is the valence electron configuration for Group 5 in the periodic table (n-1)d^5 ns^2 when none of the elements in group 5 have this configuration in the periodic table? I originally thought the answer would be (n-1)d^3 ns^2, which I think would make more sense when comparing to the given configurations shown in the periodic table.

You are correct. If you look at the class website, there's a link for Solution Manual Errors.
