paired and parallel electrons

could some please explain how electrons are paired and parallel? in what situations are they paired and when are they parallel?

For electrons to be paired, they will have the opposite spin and will be in the same orbital. For parallel electrons, they will have the same spin but be in different orbitals. This is to create the least electron repulsive force.

When two electrons are parallel, both will be having the same spin or both going up/going down. When two electrons are paired, they will have opposite spins, one going up and one going down. If two electrons are in the same orbital they will always have opposite spins (paired). If they are in two different orbitals they can have the same spin (parallel). Electrons in the same shell, sub-shell, and orbital will never be parallel- they must have opposite spin values because it is impossible for two electrons in the same atom to match for all four quantum numbers.

According to Hund's rule, every orbital must have one electron before each orbital has a pair of electrons. The number of electrons before you can start pairing depends on the orbital. For example, in a p subshell if there was only 3 electrons, they would all be parallel. However, if there was 4 electrons in a p subshell, there would be one pair and two parallel orbitals. If the p subshell was full, then there would be 3 pairs of electrons.
