Electron Configuration p orbital

Postby Jedrick Zablan 3L » Thu Oct 24, 2019 5:36 pm

For tests, do we have to show the p orbital as px, py and pz or can we just leave it as p?

I think generally you can just leave it as p^n (whatever the number of electrons is) on tests if you understand how the electrons fit into the px, py, and pz orbitals. I'd know it just in case though.

I don't think we have to know it for the test, but it helps to understand more about an atom's electron configuration.
