Electron Configuration Special Cases
Aside from chromium and copper, are there any other elements that have "exceptions" in electron configuration?

I believe that whole period carries the exception for electron configurations, but I'm not 100% sure.

Re: Electron Configuration Special Cases
I think that Lavelle really only expects us to know the chromium and copper exceptions, but from the little bit of research I've done, it seems that rubidium and silver also have abnormal electron configurations because it is more stable to have a half-filled or filled d orbital. I'm not sure if this extends to the entire group, because things get more complicated with the f-orbital. Because Lavelle hasn't said anything about exceptions in f-orbital configurations, I don't think we would be expected to know them, even if they do exist.

Everything in the group of copper and chromium have the exception except for Tungsten. I am not sure if the exception applies to the elements in the 7th period, but seeing as we haven't talked much about those elements yet, I don't think knowing those are that important.

Yes, I think we only need to focus on chromium and copper as the two exceptions. Lavelle continues to say in class that 14A is focussed primarily on the "life science elements." I believe he mentioned in class that we must know the s and p blocks as well as the first row of the d block.
