Describe the factors affecting the energy of an electron in a many-electron atom.

I'm not quite sure if this is referring to the different energy levels (n) or something maybe completely different. Would someone be able to explain this concept in a little more depth? I wasn't able to think of any other factors. Thanks!

I think it relates to both quantum number n and the effect of shielding.

In my notes on this objective, I said:
Larger principal quantum number = farther from the nucleus = higher energy
Shielding effect: The decrease in attraction between an electron and the nucleus of an atom with more than one electron shell.
Reduces the pull of the nucleus on the electron, making the electron higher energy.
In many-electron atoms, the order of orbital energies in a given shell is:
s < p < d < f
