Difference in energy levels for s and d subshells

Postby sgarza » Thu Oct 21, 2021 9:00 pm

Hello! So I'm doing the textbook problem 1E #13 and I saw that the answer for the electron configuration for silver is [Kr] 4d10 5s1 and I was a little confused because I put the answer as [Kr] 5s1 4d10. Does the difference in order matter?

Hi! The order definitely matters, the the small sub-levels should always come before the larger sub-levels.
