Effective Nuclear Charge

Will noble gases be an exception to the effective nuclear charge trend of an increase with up and to the left? If so, is it because they have an octet? Would the octet make the charge 0?

Hello, I believe that since the effective nuclear charge is the power of the nucleus to draw in an atom's electrons, noble gases would follow this trend. Effective nuclear charge contributes to atomic radius and noble gases are included in that trend. For example, Ne has a smaller atomic radius than F because it has more protons and a greater effective nuclear charge.

Hi, I don't think they would be an exception, because they will have a larger effective nuclear charge than other atoms in the same period.
