Valence electrons in D-block

Postby Rosselyn_Machado_2B » Sun Dec 10, 2023 4:46 pm

Hi,
I was wondering how you can find the valence electrons of elements in the d-block? Would it be finding the electron configuration and then taking the lone pairs as the valence or is that wrong?

For transition metals in the D block, the charge is specified in the name for example copper(II), and with that information you can find the valence. You could then fill its electron configuration and find exactly how many electrons it has available for bonding. Hope this helps!
