Hello,
Why would silver be [Kr] 4d10 5s1 rather than [Kr] 4d9 5s2?

It is the same as the copper example he went over in class.

It's more stable to have that d orbital filled than that next s orbital. That's why it's more beneficial to have that full d orbital rather than the s orbital

Correct

And remember we covered the s-block, p-block, and the 1st row of the d-block. Therefore silver would not be asked.
Thought I should clarify before students start asking do we need to know silver! :-)
