Electron Affinity vs Electronegativity

Can someone explain the difference between electron affinity and electronegativity, or the relationship between the two. I'm having a hard time distinguishing them.

Ionization Energy is the minimum energy required to remove an electron from a neutral atom in the gas phase. The ionization energy of an atom decreases as you go down a group because the outermost electrons (the ones that will be removed first) occupy shells farther away from the nucleus and thus have a weaker pull on them by the nuclear charge. Ionization energy also increases across a period because the effective nuclear charge increases (as the number of protons increase).

Electron Affinity is the energy released when electrons are added to a gas-phase atom. A positive electron affinity means that energy was resealed when the electron was added (making the atom more stable, for example a halogen receiving one electron to fill the p-orbitals). A negative electron affinity means that energy must be supplied to push an electron onto an atom (making it less stable, for example adding an electron to a noble gas).

Essentially they are the same thing. Things with high, positive electron affinity have high electronegativity. Electron affinity is the energy released when an electron is added to a gas phase atom; when the energy is positive is means that the atom "wants" the electron and when its negative it means you need to "force" the atom to take the electron. Electronegativity is the how well an atom draws electrons to it & bonds with them---things with positive electron affinity are also very electronegative like F-. In both cases, it measures how much an neutral atom wants to bond with an electron.
