Atomic Radius

Atomic Radius
I understand that the atomic radii decreases along the periods and increases down the groups, but do we have to know the actual radius? For example in problem 2.57 from the 6th edition, they include the actual radius of the elements, but I don't know where they got those values from.

Knowing the trend like you mentioned is probably something we need to know, but knowing the actual values will be given, as we are not expected to memorize the values of atomic radii.

You only will know the atomic radius if it is experimentally determined. For the purposes in our class, we only have to know the general trend.

I think knowing the general trends and being able to compare between two atoms given a periodic table is needed. We don't need to memorize the specific values.

I doubt we will be expected to know exact values. I think just knowing the trends and which radii is larger is sufficient

We only need to know the general trend of atomic radii and the other properties. Information such as the specific atomic radii will be given to us on the test if it is needed to be used.

I believe that we don't have to know the specific values as they will be provided to us if needed. Knowing the trends and justifications will be helpful.
