Electron affinity homework 1F.11

The problem asks what element of each of the following pairs has the higher electron affinity: gallium or indium; beryllium or magnesium. The answer for both is equal. I don't quite understand how that works.

For this question, the book is going off the electron affinities from the figure 1F.12 which shows the electron affinities of different elements. Electron affinity doesn't directly follow a trend in the periodic table except that energies are highest towards the right side of the periodic table.

In addition to the general trend of electron affinity being higher on the right, electron affinity generally decreases down a group
