Element Names

Postby David Zhang 1B » Sun Jul 07, 2019 4:21 pm

For the periodic table that we use during tests, do we have to know the abbreviations for all the elements or will the names be written out for us?

The periodic table on the Chem 14A website is the same periodic table that will be provided to you on the test, and it includes both the name of the element along with its abbreviation. No memorization is required.

We will use the same periodic table for all the tests and they have the names, no need to memorize

Is that periodic table color-coded with the types of elements like how it is in the front of our textbook?

The periodic table is not color coded on tests. I recommend using the periodic table from the chem 14 A website when doing your homework. This will help you become more accustomed to using the same periodic table that is used on tests and will make taking the tests seem more familiar.

In general, no memorization is required for tests, but you should be familiar with the majority of the elements listed on the periodic table.

You should be using the periodic table on Lavelle's website to familiarize yourself with it since that's the one we'll be using on all of our tests.

There is a periodic table on Lavelle's website and also for future reference it is in black and white just like it was in the first test.

I think it would be good to know all the names but I have not encountered anything that suggests otherwise.
