Ionization Energy
Why does ionization energy increase as you go from left to right even though more electrons are added?

Ionization energy is the energy it takes to remove an electron. It usually increases left to right because the atomic radius gets smaller in that direction, so electrons experience more attraction to the positive nucleus and therefore are harder to pull away.

Ionization energy is defined as the amount of energy it takes to remove an electron. According to the periodic table, there is a trend where it increases from left to right because the atomic radius gets smaller in that direction, so electrons experience more attraction to the positive nucleus and are harder to pull away, requiring more energy in order to do so.

Ionization energy increases from left to right because the atomic radius decreases from left to right, which results in a stronger pull between electrons and the nucleus.

Ionization increases as you go up and to the right because, as you move to the right, the atoms have more protons in their nucleus, which exhibit a greater nuclear charge. This stronger positive charge attracts electrons more heavily, which makes it difficult for an electron to be pulled away. The elemental atoms on the right side of the table are more likely to attract electrons to create a full octet than lose several electrons. The ionization energy decreases as you move down the table because the electrons are farther from the positive nucleus, and the electrons in closer shells shield the charges.

The ionization energy increases from left to right because as atomic radius decreases, electrons become more attracted to the nucleus. This means that they are more tightly bound and harder to remove.
