Re: trends on test 2
Test 2 will cover anything that wasn't tested on the midterm up to sigma and pi bonds which he will discuss in class on Monday I believe.

Although test 2 may not focus on periodic trends specifically, it is useful to know these trends as they are helpful in determining the behavior, structure and overall polarity of molecules.

Re: trends on test 2
We may not be asked specific questions on periodic trends like we were on the midterm, but the topics we will be tested on rely on knowledge that comes from the periodic table. Since the test will cover material after the midterm we will be focusing on outline 4 and a little bit on outline 3 (things like intermolecular bonding).

Re: trends on test 2
One trend that will likely be covered because we learned it after the midterm is that as the molecule gets larger, the london forces tend to get stronger because the molecule becomes more polarizable. This will relate to boiling points. For example, NaCl will have a higher boiling point than HCL because Na is more polarizable than HCl, so the london forces between NaCL molecules will be stronger than those between HCl molecules.
