### Atomic radius when changing sub- shells

Does the atomic radius increase when you go from 2s to 2p?

Yup, atomic radius increases due to the extra shell of electrons.

I believe the atomic radius actually decreases across a period. Since the effective nuclear charge increases across a period, there is a greater nuclear attraction to the electrons across a period, subsequently pulling the electron cloud closer in and lowering the atomic radius. Hence, a transition from 2s to 2p I believe would actually result in a smaller atomic radius.

No, the atomic radius gets smaller which the last post explains. The exception, however, is that the radius increases from the nitrogen atom to the oxygen atom because of the extra electron-electron repulsion. Oxygen has 2 electrons in one orbital, whereas nitrogen does not.

It depends. If you're talking about trends, the atomic radius does decrease when you go from left to right across the periodic table. If you are talking about a specific atom, then going from 2s to 2p will increase the radius because 2p is slightly higher in energy than 2s in multielectron atoms.
