Outline 1 Question E. 25

The question asks for the formula units for KNO3. What does formula units mean? I looked it up and some sources say its the amount of atoms but I’m not entirely sure if someone could shed some light on the subject.

Hello!

Dr. Lavelle explained formula units as "the smallest unit of any Ionic compound or covalent network solid or metal". I believe this term can be used interchangeably with "molecule". Please correct me if I am wrong, but I saw in a Youtube video that 1 mole = 6.0221 x 10^23 formula units.

Hope this helps!
