atoms and molecules

When a problem asks for the amount of molecules, can we just convert the moles to atoms using avogadro's number and find the number of atoms? Why do they sometimes ask for the number of atoms and sometimes the number of molecules?

you can multiply Avogadro's number by the amount of moles, and that answer could be used for both atoms and molecules. Avogadro's number = 6.022 x 10^23 units of a substance, which could mean atoms or molecules.
