### Comparing Moles vs Comparing Reactant and Product

What is the difference was between comparing the moles of the reactant with another reactant and comparing the moles of the reactant to the product?

### Re: Comparing Moles vs Comparing Reactant and Product

When comparing moles of reactant with moles of another reactant, you refer to the balanced chemical equation to find the mole of reactant:mole of reactant ratio. For comparing moles reactant to moles product, the only difference is you refer to the product instead of the reactant. For example in the following equation:

Anything enclosed in {these brackets} denotes a subscript
3 BaCl{2} + Al{2}(SO{4}){3} --> 3BaSO{4}+ 2 AlCl{3}

the ratio of the reactants BaCl{2} and Al{2}(SO{4}){3} is a 3 mole BaCl{2} : 1 mole Al{2}(SO{4}){3} and is classified as a mole reactant:mole reactant ratio
the ratio of BaCl{2} (a reactant) and AlCl{3} (a product) is 3 moles BaCl{2} : 2 moles AlCl{3} and is classified as a mole reactant:mole product ratio

P.S. the number of moles is equivalent to the coefficient of each reactant/product

Hope this helps.
