Problem E3

Postby 905416023 » Wed Oct 02, 2019 8:03 pm

How are you guys showing your work? I just divided 630g.mol by 210 g.mol. I'm not sure if I should add units or if I should show any more work.

For showing work, as long as you don't skip steps and the grader can easily follow your work and how you got to the answer, you should be fine. I'd recommend labelling calculations, I imagine that one is the ratio of a molecular molar mass to the empirical molar mass, so perhaps write (molecular MW)/(empirical MW) then plug in the numbers. It is always best to write units, not only for sake of receiving points and partial credit, but for you to keep track of units throughout a problem.

I think that you should clearly label units when cancelling to fully understand what your end result is. It also allows you to be a better problem solver because you know what units you started with and what units you need to end with, so you can use the information you know to get to your final desired unit.
