Velocity of an oxygen molecule

Postby marissa » Tue Oct 31, 2023 12:12 pm

Hi, now that the midterm scores are out and over, can someone explain how to find the velocity of the oxygen molecule?

I think the question included wavelength, so I used the de broglie equation where wavelength is equal to plank's divided by mass x velocity. I found the mass of the oxygen molecule, and then I rearanged the equation to solve for velocity.

To add on, the mass of the oxygen molecule can be calculated using the molar mass of O2 divided by Avogado's constant.
