Hi, would someone be able to explain how we determine what formulas to use to find the maximum number of electrons ejected from a metal by a burst of photons?

Hi! For question 6 first we find the work function which is equal to hv-KE. You can use the equation on the sheet KE= hv - work function to find this.
In question 6 the frequency (v) is given and so is the kinetic energy.
Once you have the work function you can divide the total energy of the burst of photons by the work function to find the number of photons ejected.
