Why are electrons negatively charged?
Why are electrons negatively charged? Is it it innate? Is it just in the definition of an electron to be negative?

I believe it is just the definition of an electron to be negatively charged. Electrons tend to be attracted towards positive poles or charges. This means that they have to be negatively charged since opposite charges attract.

Re: Why are electrons negatively charged?
It is an inherent quality of all electrons that they are negatively charged and they contribute negative charge to the structure and composition of atoms. There is no such thing as a positive quanta that is an electron; electrons are quanta that possess negative charge and they represent one unit of negative charge. A positive version of an electron is a proton I suppose. The thing to remember about electrons when an electron is added to an atom that wasn't otherwise there before the overall charge of the atom because more negative and the overall energy of the atom becomes more negative. Likewise, when an electron is removed from an atom the atom becomes more positive in charge overall. I suppose taht is the proof that proves electrons are negatively charged in nature and it is an innate quality.

Re: Why are electrons negatively charged?
Electrons are negatively charged because it's their property gain the tiny particles. This charge is a key feature of electrons, essential for their role in forming atoms and engaging in chemical reactions. The negative charge of electrons is explained by the principles of quantum mechanics which helps people piece together and understand the structure of matter on a very small scale.

Hello,
Electrons are negatively charged because they have the property of electric charge. Electric charge can be positive or negative.
