How well should we know the experiments that we discussed in lecture or that are in the book for quiz 2? Will we need to know small details or just the overall idea of the experiments?

I believe that as long as you understand the concepts behind the experiments and the discoveries they led to, you should be okay.

Here are a couple of key points:
- Photoelectric experiment = shine light on a metal surface to measure how much energy (and thus, the wavelength and frequency) of light is needed to eject an electron --> higher frequency light (not just high intensity light) was needed to eject electrons + a specific frequency is needed to eject an electron (threshold energy) --> helped show that light has particle-like properties as well as the classical idea of light as just a wave.

- Diffraction experiment = shoot lights/electrons through a couple of holes in a board and see where the electrons/light ends up on a detector --> light AND electrons created a diffraction pattern on the detector --> showed that electrons have wave-like properties along with the classical idea of electrons as a just a particle.
