do electrons ever possess enough mass to make a difference

It depends on what you are talking about. The value is important in knowing for fields which study electronic transport etc.

Electrons have a mass but in comparison to protons and neutrons in an atom, they will not affect the total mass I think.

It is a constant weight of 9.1095x10^-31 kg

The small mass of an electron is significant as it allows us to observe the wavelike properties of an electron even when it is traveling at high speeds (even as the speed gets closer to the speed of light, the mass is so small that the wavelength=(h/(mass X velocity)) is observable.

It will make a difference on the test. I would guess at least a few of the calculations on the test will involve finding properties of an electron based on its momentum, which you need mass to find.

Yes, its mass will be important to know for the test. It may be given to us but I wouldn't rely on that. The mass isn't considered for stuff like the atomic mass, as only protons and neutrons are considered due to their much greater mass, but for our upcoming case it is imperative to consider the electron's mass.

Best,

yes it's important to consider it

also i'm pretty sure they said the mass will be given on the front page of the test, so don't worry about memorizing it

Yes, watch out for calculating the kinetic energy (1/2mv^2) of an electron, in which you will need the mass of an electron. Also, if you need to calculate the wavelength of an electron, you would use de Broglie's equation, not c=h*lambda because an electron has a mass, whereas a photon's mass is negligible.

mass of e =9.1095x10^-31 kg
it depends on the degree of the precision of your measurement but, yes, this small mass can make a difference

It depends on what you're talking about, but yes, they have a definite mass that can be important in some contexts.

The test definitely gives you the mass of an electron.

the test should definitely give you the mass of an electron, proton, and photon i believe

If it is relevant, it will be provided for your calculations.

Whether it makes a difference depends on the problem. Electrons do have mass, but it's extremely small. The exact value will probably be provided on the tests.
