degenerate orbital
What does this mean? Does it mean that There is not enough energy to fill up the labeled orbital?

Degenerate orbitals are orbitals that have the same energy. For instance, in the d subshell there are 5 degenerate orbitals that all have the same energy level.

Hi! So degenerate orbitals are orbitals with the same energy. When the the value of n and l is the same, they are degenerate orbitals. For example, in the 2p subshell, there are 3 degenerate orbitals. The only exception to degenerate orbitals is when the same value of n has DIFFERENT values of l in hydrogen atoms or one-electron ions (He+).

Hello! Degenrate orbital are known as electron orbital which express the same energy levels, however, according to Hund's rule the orbital must be filled evenly before the elctrons are transferred to higher energy levels.

Thank you! I guess I am just confused about the 1 electron systems such as Hydrogen and He+. Wouldn't they be degenerate since they remain in the same orbital?
