Can someone please help me the this question and explain how you determeine whihc copounds has bonds with greater ionic character?
a. HCI or HI
b CH4 or CF4
c. CO2 or CS2

To determine which one has more ionic character, compare the electronegativities of each. You don't have to know the exact numbers, but know that Cl is more electronegative than I, F is more electronegative than H, etc. The species with the higher difference in EN in each pair is the one with more ionic character.

For a the answer is HCl since the electronegativity difference is bigger between H and Cl than H and I. Cl is more electronegative than I. Also for H, you can consider it the same as Phosphorus which shares the same electronegativity.
For b the answer is CF4 since F is much more electronegative than H.
For c the answer is CO2 with C=O bond. O is more electronegative than H.
Generally the trend of electronegativity increases from bottom left to top right. So F is the most electronegative one and KCl is probably the most ionic compounds (I'm not sure about this point)
