Help on 3.25

Postby Amanda Cardenas 1J » Wed May 30, 2018 2:53 pm

I need help with parts b, d, and e of 3.25.
3.25: On the basis of the expected charges on the monoatomic ions, give the chemical formula of each of the following compounds:
b) indium(III)
d) hydrogen telluride
e) bismuth(III) floride

To figure out the chemical formula, I usually pay attention to the suffixes and the Roman numerals of the compounds being named.
b) indium(III) sulfide = In2S3
d) hydrogen telluride = H2Te
e) bismuth(III) floride = BiF3

Keep in mind that the roman numerals indicate of the charge of the element. Ex: bismuth(III) has a +3 charge.

I agree that the best way to start is by looking at the roman numerals for charge
