Lattice energies of solids

Postby Layla Manoochehri » Mon Nov 05, 2018 12:36 am

For the midterm do we need to know how to find the relative lattice energies of solids (like example 3.2 in the 6th edition of the textbook)? I don't remember learning about this in lecture / don't see it in my notes but I just want to make sure!

I do not think we are expected to know it. Just know that lattice energy is a measure of the energy released when ions are combined to make a compound and that it is a measure of the cohesive forces that bind ions.
