Lattice energies of solids

For the midterm do we need to know how to find the relative lattice energies of solids (like example 3.2 in the 6th edition of the textbook)? I don't remember learning about this in lecture / don't see it in my notes but I just want to make sure!

I do not think we are expected to know it. Just know that lattice energy is a measure of the energy released when ions are combined to make a compound and that it is a measure of the cohesive forces that bind ions.
