In the ground state configuration, the number of protons matches the number of electrons. Helium has two protons, so it will have two electrons in its ground state! :) I hope this helps.

The electron configuration of He is 1s2. When drawing the Lewis structure, you would put these electrons together to show how they are in the same sub shell of the atom. If the valence electrons appear in different sub shells, such as the s and p, you keep the s electrons together and then separate the p electrons.

He has 2 valence electrons, which means it has one electron pair. That is why the Lewis structure for it will look like this- :He
