what is the feature of water molecules that enables ionic substances to dissolve in water?

Hydrogen bonding and the polarity of the water molecule allow ionic substances to dissolve in water.

Water is just really good at dissolving things due to its hydrogen bonding and its polarity thus allows it to do so.

From what I know: Water molecules are a bent shape that allowed the polarity (partial charges) to dissolve well with substances.

Something I learned from my high school chem teacher is that water is polar and is better at dissolving other polar substances and less good at dissolving non-polar substances. Ionic substances tend to be more non-polar because electrons are more unevenly distributed so they break apart more easily in water.

They hydrogen bonding as well as the high polarity of water allows for the ionic substances to dissolve.
