Ionic radius

Does anyone know if the charge of an ion effects the ionic radius or the size of an ion?

I think as the ion becomes more negative the ionic radius increases because it is repelling the + charged nucleus more.... that's just my hypothesis. Not 100% sure.

I think adding electrons to an atom makes the ionic radius bigger as the added electrons repel from the already existing electrons while taking away electrons from an atom makes the radius smaller because there is less electron shielding so electrons get pulled closer to the nucleus.

I'm not 100% sure but increasing ion charge will also increase the number of electrons thus increasing the radius

Yep!
Jaden is absolutely correct--> adding more electrons makes the ion more negative, which would lead to more electron electron repulsion, which would increase the size of the ion radius. This is very similar to how going across a period and increasing the amount of electrons present increases the amount of repulsion and decreases the size.

Adding more electrons to an anion would increase the ionic radius because there would be more electron repulsion for the same nuclear charge.

The more negative an Ion becomes, the larger its radius becomes, whereas the more positive an ion becomes, the smaller its radius becomes.

In general, ionic radius decreases with increasing positive charge. As the charge on the ion becomes more positive, there are fewer electrons and the ion has a smaller radius. But you can not predict an ion size based on it's charge

More negativity in an Ion means a larger radius. On the other hand, positivity causes an Ion to have a smaller radius.

As a molecule becomes more positive in charge (a cation), it becomes smaller. I think this is because the repulsion between electrons is weaker and the strength of the effective nuclear charge from the nucleus is able to pull them closer.
As a molecule becomes more negative in charge (an anion), it becomes larger. This is because the resulting repulsion from electrons against the effective nuclear charge from the nucleus is higher.

Cations radius always gets smaller since it is losing an entire shell, while anions radius is larger than their parent atoms.

yeah, iconic radius is dependent on a charge. Think of it as when something is a more negative or more negative charge that means there are more electrons in it. Also, in iconic compounds. Follow the trend lavelle gave us that bigger molecules are going to have more radius so as we move down on the right. it gets bigger and means bigger radius. This concept is tough,

Yes it does have an effect! When adding more electrons, it makes the ion more negative. This leads to more electron electron repulsion. This means an increase the size of the ion radius.

Adding electrons to an atom makes the atomic radius bigger because there is more electron repulsion and the protons do not have as strong of a grasp on the electrons as there are more of them. On the other hand, when electrons are taken off of the atom, the atomic radius decreases because there are less electrons and the pull of the protons becomes greater

It will affect its ionic radius. Adding/removing electrons will alter the atom's characteristics and properties, including its ionic radius.

I believe an ion will have a larger radius the more negative it becomes, while the smaller ions will be more positive. But I think there isn't a guaranteed correlation.

More electrons = larger radius and vice versa, as adding additional electrons will increase their repulsion from the nuclei.
