Re: Bonds
Ionic bonds are formed when atoms transfer electrons. Covalent bonds, on the other hand, are the sharing of electrons between two atoms.

Re: Bonds
Likewise, an ionic bond is between a metal and nonmetal because of their tendencies to lose electrons and gain electrons, respectively. These cation metals transfer their electrons to their anion nonmetal counterpart. In the other hand, covalent bonds are between nonmetals, in which they share their electrons with each other. :)

Re: Bonds
Ionic bonds are generally between a metal and a nonmetal (usually left side of periodic table with right side of periodic table) and electrons are transferred to the anion. Covalent bonds are between 2 nonmetals and electrons are shared.

Re: Bonds
Ionic bonds happen between a metal and nonmetal and happens when there is a transfer of electrons. Covalent bonds happen between two nonmetals and happens when there is a sharing of electrons.

Re: Bonds
Hi. Ionic bonds are formed a between a metal and nonmetal. Additionally, an ionic bond forms when the lowest energy can be attained by ion formation. On the other hand, covalent bonds are formed between two nonmetals. There is a sharing of electrons.

Re: Bonds
Adding onto what others have stated, ionic bonds are also bonds in which one atom can pull an electron full away from another due to a large electronegativity difference.
The basics of ionic bonds are that it is a bond between a nonmetal and a metal, while a covalent bond is between two nonmetals.

Re: Bonds
Ionic- one element takes an electrons from another to become an octet
Covalent- electron is shared to help both electrons get an octet

An ionic bond forms between a nonmetal and metal and involves the transfer of electrons. Covalent bonds form between nonmetals and involve the sharing of electrons.

Re: Bonds
Ionic bonds occur between a metal and a nonmetal and covalent bonds occur between 2 nonmetals.
Re: Bonds
Ionic bonds tend to form between metal and p-block nonmetal, while covalent bonds form between two nonmetals. Ionic bonds exchange electrons while covalent bonds share electrons. Also, ionic bonds are formed through the attraction of oppositely charged ions, cations and anions.
