Sigma and Pi Bonds

Postby 806021969 » Sun Dec 10, 2023 2:29 pm

I know that sigma and pi bonds are types of covalent bonds that are formed by overlapping the atomic orbitals however how can we distinguish the main differences between these two bond because I know that these are essential when answering questions.

For sigma bonds you must remember that they are more stable and it is only one and for pi they will make the other bonds for example c = it has a sigma and a pi, but for 3 bonds you have a sigma and 2pi

I hope it's helpful.
