Quiz 2 Preparation

Postby Diana_Anum1G » Thu Oct 20, 2016 8:31 pm

So for the questions in the workbook for quiz 2 preparation, it seems to have a lot of problems concerning hybridization and sigma and pi bonds and stuff like that. I am not familiar with these topics and I don't believe we've covered them in class so are these going to be on the quiz? I thought the quiz was on chapter 2 and 3 but these questions are more chapter 4?

On his website it says quiz 2 covers everything from chapters 2 and 3 and in the reader it says everything up to October 21st. So my best guess is that he'll discuss it tomorrow

I already discussed this in detail in Wednesday class ...

And as I posted on my class website on Monday:

"Quiz 2 covers Chapter 2 from quantum numbers onwards and all of Chapter 3."
The hand-in quiz covers these topics and your Quiz 2 covers (only) these topics.

Correct, some of the prior quizzes covered Chapter 4 material.
Chapter 4 material will not be on your Quiz 2.

Seriously, just copy the link to this post and share. Thanks

Will we need to use the Born-Mayer equation on the quiz? Which equation do we use to calculate lattice energy, I am confused by the given equations from the textbook on pages 73 and 74 regarding calculating potential energy.

I think we only need to review chapter 2 and 3 for Quiz 2 since the class announcement says the quiz will cover chapter2 and3. So we don't have to worry about the stuff of pi bond and sigma bond.

Did I cover this in class? No
Did I assign homework problems on this? No
Is it in the course reader and workbook? No
Will I test on this? No

Will we have to know how to do problems like 25 and 27 of the homework for the quiz?
They are questions that concern knowing how to write the chemical formulas for compounds such as manganese (II) telluride.

Im sorry if this was already discussed :-(

Both the name and formula are given for uncommon compounds.

For every metal that can have multiple valence electrons, will we be given the number of valence electron it has? for example alminium (III) oxide, will we get the III?
