Valence Electron Configuration

Postby Alexandra_Ivanova_1A » Sat Oct 22, 2016 6:24 pm

Where can I find out how to do the valence electron configuration notation needed for problems like 6 and 7 in the Quiz 2 Preparation, Fall 2014 problem set? Will it be covered in the upcoming quiz if it hasn't been explicitly discussed in class?

In the textbook (for the 6th edition), you can find a bit about valence electron configurations specifically on page 46 (it's on page 35 for the 5th edition). As for whether we will be tested on what we may not have gone over explicitly in lecture, I believe that he will be testing us on what the syllabus says will be covered. In the course reader, there are bullet points in the beginning of each section that says that we should be know and be able to explain certain topics, so I'm assuming that that is the material he will be testing us on.
