Postby JulissaLopez1F » Thu Oct 27, 2016 10:08 pm

on the quiz 2 prep, how is the answer 12 sigma and 1 pi?
can someone explain how to arrive at that answer because i'm not understanding the concept, is it mathematical and if so, how?

All of the single bonds are sigma bonds and for the double bond, one of the bonds is a pi bond.

For a single bond, there is a sigma bond.
For a double bond, there is a sigma bond and a pi bond.
For a triple bond, there is a sigma bond and two pi bonds.
