Why can't there be two sigma bonds and a pi bond in a triple bond?

Hi Melissa,
I believe it is because sigma bonds can't overlap one another. There can be 2 Pi bonds because they are 90 degrees from each other and don't overlap
and just a reminder to follow these rules too:
single covalent bond has -1 sigma bond
Double covalent bond has- 1 sigma bond and 1 pi bond
triple covalent bond has-1 sigma bond and 2 pi bond
Hope this helps!

I believe there can only be one sigma bond in both double and triple bonds.
