Double bond with 2 pi bonds?

Postby ZachMoore1C » Thu May 31, 2018 1:05 pm

Is there ever a scenario in which a double bond will have two pi bonds and no sigma bond?

I don't think so, I think a double bond is always 1 sigma and 1 pi bond

A sigma bond will always be formed first during the formation of a double bond so a double bond with 2 pi bonds is highly unlikely.
