Visualizing sigma and pi bonds
Does anyone have any resources for how to visualize sigma and pi bonds?

I liked this Khan Academy video: https://www.khanacademy.org/science/organic-chemistry/gen-chem-review/hybrid-orbitals-jay/v/pi-bonds-and-sp2-hybridized-orbitals
This other video was also helpful and showed the bonds in 3D: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voIpywwj2Ks

This is a good picture for visualizing sigma and pi bonds. The image shows (from top to bottom)
a sigma bond between two p-orbitals
a sigma bond between a single p-orbital and s-orbital
a sigma bond between two s-orbitals
a pi bond, which is only possible between two p-orbital

This video should help you visualize the difference between sigma and pi bonding in organic molecules.

Re: Visualizing sigma and pi bonds
For both bonds, I know that they overlap one another but in different positions. Such as a for a sigma bond, 2 orbitals will overlap the ends side to side which allows them to rotate (say they lay horizontally on an x-axis). While Pi bonds overlap side to side preventing it from rotating because they are locked together (are upright vertically).

This image gives a good representation of what these bonds are and how they interact.
