sigma/pi bonds and resonance

Postby rkang00 » Sat Nov 24, 2018 10:44 am

If a test asks us to find the number sigma and pi bonds of a molecule that has a resonance structure I assume we have to find the numbers of bonds for each structure to get full credit?

Yes, I would do that to be safe on a test. If they're resonance structures that have the same number of each type of bond then you could probably say all of them have the same number of pi and sigma bonds.
