Re: Resonance
I know a molecule has resonance when the central atom is bonded to 2 or more of the same element, but has different bonds (single, double, or triple) with the atoms. Since these atoms are the same element, which atom has which bond does not matter and the molecule can have resonance, alternating between each atom with its different bonds.

Re: Resonance
i thought it dosn't have to be bonded to the same element...as long as there is variance in the bond lengths according to the lewis diagram. am i misunderstanding?

Re: Resonance [ENDORSED]
When you can draw structures with multiple bonds in different positions.
I will discuss this in class today.
